I. Introduction
Burton Sportartikel GmbH and Suzuki are launching a design competition on the www.series13.com/freeride website. Creatively-minded website visitors are being requested to design a snowboard, and their designs will be judged in a combination of public online voting and an expert jury. The best designer will receive a snowboard and a Suzuki Grand Vitara - each in his or her own winning design.
II. Competition rules
1. Eligibility to participate The competition is open to all European citizens who would like to demonstrate their creativity, are at least 18 years old. There is no entrance fee. Employees of the two organizers, Suzuki International Europe GmbH and Burton Sportartikel GmbH, employees of the implementing agency Rebel Media / Goodguy and other persons who are involved in the planning and implementation of the competition are not eligible to participate.

3. Prizes - Burton snowboard in the winning design - Suzuki Grand Vitara, diesel, 5-door in the winning design - 15 runner-up prizes (such as Burton rucksacks including cool T-shirts, DVDs and lots of other things)
The prizes cannot be exchanged by participants for alternative prizes or for cash. The organizers reserve the right to change the specified prizes if the circumstances necessitate this.
4. Registration and design submission Participants are required to fill in the First Name and Surname, Address, Age and E-mail Address fields at www.series13.com/freeride and to accept the competition rules by clicking on the checkbox. Only registered participants can submit a snowboard design.
A design template is provided on the competition website. When they have used it, the participants can upload their designs. Only uploaded designs will be judged. Each participant may submit any number of designs. The designs cannot be submitted by fax, post or e-mail.
5. Voting The submitted designs are uploaded using the "Gallery" menu item and "exhibited" online. The decision on the winners will be made in a combination of public online and jury voting.
a. Public online voting All registered users can rate the snowboard designs on a scale of 1 (very poor) to 10 (very good). There will be three preliminary rounds of public online voting. In each preliminary round, the five designs which receive the highest rating from website users will be submitted to the jury for its votes. A participant's design can only be included in one of the preliminary rounds. But the design can be uploaded again for the next round(s) within the time limits specified in 6. The results of the public online voting procedure will be announced on the competition website.
b. Jury voting The 15 finalists qualified via public online voting will receive interesting runner-up prizes. In addition 10 finalists will get qualified via wildcards selected by a design expert nominated by the organizer. Overall there will be 25 finalists (3 x 5 public voting + 2 x 5 expert wildcards). These 25 designs will be judged by an expert jury at the beginning of March 2008. The jury will make its decision in private by way of a simple majority vote of jury members present and it is not contestable. The judges' decision is final.
Jury assessment criteria: Imagination, innovation, originality and visual appeal of designs.
c. Disqualification of designs / participants All designs are subject to the inspection and approval of the organisers prior to publication.
Discriminating, pro violence, pornographic and other designs which offend common decency will be disqualified from the competition.
The organizers have the right to disqualify participants who manipulate or attempt to manipulate the participation process and the competition and/or breach these competition rules and/or otherwise attempt to fairly or unfairly influence the competition (in particular by way of interference with, threatening of and/ or harassing of other competition participants or the organizer's employees).
6. Schedule / dates Competition launch: 21 November 2007 (12 noontime, Central European Time) Preliminary rounds: - Round 1: Closing date for entries and votes 31 December 2007 (12 midnight, Central European Time) - Round 2: Closing date for entries and votes 31 January 2008 (12 midnight, Central European Time) - Round 3: Closing date for entries and votes 29 February 2008 (12 midnight, Central European Time) Final round / jury decision: early March 2008
7. Rights Every participant who registers to participate in the design competition and clicks the checkbox accepts these competition rules. He or she bindingly and irrevocably declares that the uploaded design is his or her own work and that he or she holds all copyrights, rights of use and enjoyment and other related rights, and the design does not infringe third party rights.
The participant thus exempts the organizers from all third party claims arising from the uploading of the design. If a design is created by more than one person, all copyright-reserving persons must be named and their consent verified. Participants are liable for the validity of the information that they provide. They retain the copyright to their designs at all times. By submitting a design, the participant grants to Burton Sportartikel GmbH and Suzuki International Europe GmbH, in the event that he or she wins the competition, the exclusive rights of use (time, territory and content) to the design for a strictly limited edition of snowboard and vehicle.
When implementing the winning design, the organizers reserve the right to make any necessary changes to the design for production-related or other objective and reasonable grounds. The organizers are also permitted to combine an own logo with the winning design.
The participant grants Burton Sportartikel GmbH and Suzuki International Europe GmbH the exclusive rights to all known types of use (time, territory and content) to the design for the duration of the design competition and for subsequent publications and possible exhibitions in connection with the competition. This includes, in particular, the right to duplicate, disseminate, exhibit or make the design available to the public, especially for promotional purposes.
8. Notification of winners and publication of winners' names The 15 finalists and the winner will be notified by e-mail. The finalists will receive material prizes. If any of the finalists are unattainable for more than a two-week period – commencing at the time when notification is provided to the winners - they shall lose their entitlement to the prize.
If the competition winner is unattainable for more than a two-week period – commencing at the time when notification of the win is provided - he or she shall lose his or her entitlement to the prize. In this case, the prize goes to the finalist who is judged by the jury to have submitted the second-best design.
The participant consents - in the event that he or she wins the competition - to his or her name being published on the internet or in the organizers' press or promotional materials.
Participants who are not competition winners will not be notified upon request.
9. Prize giving The competition winner may, in conjunction with a graphic artist, produce the final artwork for his or her design which will then be appropriately graphically implemented on the main prizes provided by the organizers - a Burton snowboard and a Suzuki Grand Vitara.
The terms of vehicle hand-over will be agreed between the winner and Suzuki International Europe GmbH.
The runner-up prizes will be sent to the 15 finalists by post.
10. Premature discontinuation of the competition The organizers may discontinue the competition at any time without stating reasons. This applies, in particular, if the competition cannot run as scheduled for any reason, for example, in the case of computer viruses, software and/or hardware errors and/or for other technical and/or legal reasons which affect the administration, security, integrity and/ or regular and proper implementation of the competition.
11. Liability The organizers shall not be liable for incorrect or incomplete records of participant and competition data, or the failure to record, store or process such data, for reasons over which the organizer has no control. If irregularities occur in the points scoring - for example as a result of server or software problems - the organizers shall make a final and absolute decision as regards the winner at their own discretion and in accordance with the criteria specified in II. (6).
12. Miscellaneous 13. Data protection The participants' personal data will be transferred to and used by Suzuki International Europe GmbH, Burton Sportartikel GmbH and the agency implementing the competition, Rebel Media / Goodguy, for the implementation and processing of the competition, and the participants expressly consent to such transfer and use. Suzuki International Europe GmbH, Burton Sportartikel GmbH Sportartikel GmbH and Rebel Media / Goodguy will not sell personal data or pass on address data to third parties.
14. Privacy policy By agreeing to this rules I consent to the storage, processing, transfer and use of the personal data which I have provided for the purpose of implementing the competition and processing competition entries in a database managed by and at the responsibility of Suzuki International Europe GmbH, Burton Sportartikel GmbH and any of their affiliated companies. I would also like to receive information by e-mail or post from Suzuki and Burton about offers and promotions and herewith declare my consent to such information being sent to me in the aforementioned manner. I can revoke this consent at any time by sending a message to the organizers of this competition by using the contact form on this website.
