Are there any limitations as to how to create a design?
No, there are no limitations, as long as you can convert your design into a jpeg file. In order to participate in the Freeride Design Competiton you have to submit a jpeg file in the dimensions 800 x 2048 pixels, 72 dpi resolution, and a maximum size of 2 MB.
How do I create the file in the format requested for the competition?
Use one of the templates you can download on this website - they already have the correct dimensions. Create your design based on the template. Afterwards use the “Save for web” function in Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator which automatically converts your design to 72 dpi (of course you can also change the resolution manually in any other software program). Select data format “jpeg” in maximum quality.
I have uploaded a design, but it doesn’t look the way it should?
Maybe you have uploaded a wrong data format. Or you might as well have to rotate it to make it look they way you wanna have it. Just delete the uploaded design in the “My Design” section on this website and upload a new, emended version of your design.
I have uploaded a design but can’t see it in the gallery and others can’t vote for it?
Before a design is up for voting in the gallery, we have to check it first. We don’t allow designs with discriminating, pro violence, pornographic content or designs, which offend common decency. If your design is ok it will be approved for being displayed in the gallery where other users can check it out and vote for it. Sorry, if you have to wait some time for approval.
Can I use any picture to create my own design?
No. Your design must not show discriminating, pro violence, pornographic content or offend common decency. Furthermore you have to have all copyrights and the rights of use.
I can't find the "My Design" section on this website. What to do?
You have to be logged in. Then "My design" appears as a new button in the main menu of this website.

Can I participate with the same design in more than one heat?
Yes, you can participate with the same design in all 3 heats. However, we don’t take designs automatically to the next heat. You have to upload it again. And unless you have made it to the Top 5 of a heat we recommend you to improve your design before you participate in the next heat.
Can I submit more than one design for a heat?
Yes, you can submit as many designs as you want to per heat. But be aware that it’s not about the quantity of designs but the quality. So we recommend you to rather focus on few but damn hot designs. Less is more!
Is there a minimum age for participants?
Yes, you have to be 18 years old to participate in the Freeride Design Competition. Hey, the first prize is a car and you should be allowed to drive around in your one-of-a-kind Suzuki Grand Vitara Freeride in your own design!
Are there other restrictions for participants?
Yes. To win the main prize you have to be a European citizen. You can still sign up - even if you are not from Europe - to vote for designs and win an exclusive Burton Promo T-Shirt.

How can I vote for a design?
If you click on the teaser picture of a design in the gallery, you get to the detailed view of the specific design. If you are logged in you will find a rating scale from 1 to 10 points just below the picture of the design. Select your points and press the “Confirm voting” button. If you are not logged in you will find a link instead of the rating scale, which will direct you to the login page straight away.
Why do I have to register if I just want to vote?
Within a heat a user can only vote once for a specific design. Therefore we need to know who the voter is.
What happens if I try to manipulate the voting?
In case of manipulation we will disqualify a user immediately, because that’s not fair to all the others. And be aware … manipulation is not only hacking our system, but also registering with multiple users and voting for your own design or several times for the same design, and so on. We have our tools to detect such manipulation.
How do you calculate the ranking?
The points for a specific design are simply the total amount of all ratings from other users received within the same heat. The design with the most points within a heat holds the first position.
I have submitted a design. Why can’t others vote for it?
Before a design is up for voting in the gallery, we have to check it first. We don’t allow designs with discriminating, pro violence, pornographic content or designs, which offend common decency. If your design is ok it will be approved for being displayed in the gallery where other users can check it out and vote for it. Sorry, if you have to wait some time for approval.
I have voted for a design? Do I get a Burton Promo T-Shirt now?

I have voted for other designs. How will I find out if I have won a Burton Promo T-Shirt?
All winners of a Burton Promo T-Shirt will be notified by e-mail.
If I win the main prize can I influence the way my board design gets applied to the Suzuki Grand Vitara Freeride?
The competition winner may, in conjunction with a graphic artist, produce the final artwork for his or her design which will then be appropriately implemented on the main prizes provided by the organizers - a Burton snowboard and a Suzuki Grand Vitara Freride.
If I win a prize and don’t really like it, can I get something else?
No, participants can’t exchange their prizes and get alternative prizes or cash instead.
